Won’t bow…Mardi Gras Indians and NOPD have settled on some new rules that should reduce some of the tension between the two parties thanks to a City Hall meeting this past Monday morning.
Among the things hashed out at the meeting: NOPD will no longer arrest or use lights and sirens to force Indians off the street. They will also no longer use a 6 p.m. curfew that seems to have only been enforced for the Indians.
“A seed was dropped. And hopefully we can cultivate that seed and watch it grow,” said Big Chief Tyrone Casby of the Mohawk Hunters tribe.
